★ Kingdom Canidae [6/10]:

The personal project that I've been working on; it's a series of 10 images illustrating a fantasy world that showcase 10 different kinds of Canids (doggos!) with facts and story~
Its intent is to be printed as a book so the artwork is created in spread format.

☆ Jackal. (In Latin; Canis Aureus) 

In the depths of the dark forests, prowls the night-hunters, the Jackal and the ominous death god.
Be careful that you are not in their way; the forbiding duo will not take any interruptions lightly.

☆ Story

The pair of which no one freely speaks of; even a mention of their name spikes a cold chill down our spines. 
Jackal is the sacred deity who walks the earth and reaps judgement towards those who have sinned. 
He acts as a passage; guiding the dead to those above who would judge their souls. 
Him and his companion, Hide, are a force that shouldn’t be reckoned with.
They are known as the walking reapers of the land in Kingdom Canidae. Watch your back.

☆ Facts & Info

Jackals are a medium sized canid, originally found in Africa and the Middle East.
They are nocturnal mammals that hunt during the night.
Jackals are notably cunning and resourceful, very often scavenging remains of kills made by larger predators.

Did you know? The ancient Egyptian god Anubis is a jackal-headed deity, associated with mummification and the afterlife as jackals were scavengers which uncovered human bodies and ate them.
