wait whats "clipping" and "multiply" T_T
Reply
:iconfiveonthe:
Fiveonthe Featured By Owner Nov 2, 2012  Student Digital Artist
If you create a new layer above another layer, and you press 'clipping group' it places some sort of mask so that you can't colour out of the layer below. You'll see what I mean. Draw like an apple or something , colour it, then make a new layer above it and press clipping group. Try to colour outside of the apple ^^

Multiply is a layer option, so if you drop down the selection, and use multiply, it makes the layer darker and overlay over the layer below it, Try it!

Just curious but how would you do this style for unique hair styles...like flat bangs for example? Like for characters like Panty from Panty and Stocking?

Same way! Just stroke the way the hair flows ^^

I don't have a pen tablet so I can't do stuff like controlled pen pressure (I rely on mouse), but what would you recommend for ideal brushes? Hard or Soft? Round or Flat?

Is there a quick way (shortcut) to rotate the angle of a brush if it's flat? To give it that varying angled ends (per stroke I mean).

Soft, low density and more strokes ^^ I don't think so but you can create your own brush / alternate the brush with photoshop, but if you're using SAI there isn't, There's a quick shortcut to change brush sizes though, that's [ for smaller and ] for bigger ^^

This is a really good Tutorial. It is a bit hard to pull off though, I have a bit of trouble understanding the semi lines. How does that work? I also find that no lines is very very hard for the edges to be smooth. How to do smooth them out? Also thank you for making this XD
